Rhydian couldn't see any wolves in the area, nor could he see any life. There was just a beautiful waterfall in front of him, surrounded by grass and small hills. He sighed a sigh of relief, it was nice to finally be able to rest. He lay down on the grass, his head still held up while he looked over the waterfall, the water dropping down and causing a loud sound around him. All he could hear was the waterfall and the odd chirp of a bird; it was so peaceful. Even when he was lying down he managed to swish his tail whilst licking his paws gently, he still continued to look around him, he thought it was oddly quiet for a place like this.

Eventually Rhydian got up and began to walk around a little, finding his way down to the water of the waterfall. He opened his maw and started lapping at the cool, crisp water. Once he was finished he slowly waded into the liquid, still able to stand in the water. It was not that refreshing since it was cold anyway, still being winter. It was nice to have a bit of a swim, though, Rhydian rarely got a chance to and now was a perfect time to do that. He swam about a little but eventually decided it was too cold to stay in, it was kind of silly to go in in the first place. He shook himself off as he got out, finally walking over to a grassy mound and lying on the moist earth. He stretched himself out and lay there quite flat, although he stood out like a sore thumb since he was blonde and the grass quite green.

She still felt that terrible pain in her heart for the loss of her babies. They had been born too soon, the harsh mid winter. And they had not survived. In fact they had all been stillborn. Rhian sighed at the thought and the memories and shook her head in disbelief; she could no believe that her pups were dead. And so was her mate. There was no chance she would ever see them again; she was doomed to be alone.
And with that terrible feeling of loneliness she entered Cytgord's valley through the desert, the Restless Barrens, and had moved along the mountains for a few days. And after a few days she had stumbled upon the river. She decided to follow it, but instead ended up at the beginning of the river, instead of following it to the other end. Maybe Rhian should have looked at which way the current went, but she had been so lost in thought that she had followed the current up stream. And so she had found her way back into the mountains, to a waterfall.


Amazed by the scene she stood there and stared at the falling water. There was still snow around her, but it was already melting. So snowy fields made way for green grass. Wanting to see if she could find a place to rest here for a bit, Rhian looked around and started moving closer towards the waterfall; she guessed there could be an overhanging rock there to give her shelter, or a very small cave or den for her to rest in.
But as she continued her travel towards the waterfall, she saw a golden coated wolf laying in the grass not too far away from the water. He seemed to be resting, too. Rhian stopped and stared at him for a bit. A handsome wolf, that was for sure. And she wanted to go over to him and speak to him. But what that a good plan? Probably not. But being Rhian, she was too naive to even think about other wolves being bad, unless they were being bad right in front of her. And so she walked over to the male, she came closer to him.
''Hello there.'' she said as she forced a smile onto her face. She didn't want the male to find out what had happened to her only a month ago. She didn't want to talk about her died pups and her deceased mate.

Rhydian continued to lie on the floor, just thinking while he did so. Where was Alric? Shouldn’t he have had company by now, or had his ex-alpha given up his chase? Either way he felt safer here, there was no sight of him anywhere and he hadn’t found even a trace of them for weeks now. The must have given up, there’s no way they just disappeared. Now he was in a strange unknown area, just wandering around, hoping to find some form of life. Or for some form of life to find him, either way he wanted to find another wolf. Or, better yet, a group of wolves, a pack.
‘’Hello there.’’ A sudden voice called out. Rhydian looked up, scanning around for its source. He managed to find it, it was a white-ish female who looked smiled at him. He smiled back, finally he’d found a wolf to speak to, finally someone to travel with, maybe?
‘’Hello. I’m Rhydian, what’s your name?’’ He asked, curiosity in his voice. He tried his best to make conversation with her but he just didn’t understand why she approached him, maybe she was just looking for someone to travel with as well?
‘’Are you alone or with a pack?’’ He continued, looking slightly worried as he said it. He didn’t want this to be an ambush or anything, he didn’t want to be caught off guard. He wasn’t really ready to get caught by a pack right now, if he found one he might be okay but if one found him he didn’t know whether he could trust them.

As soon as Rhian had said hello the male looked up at her, and noticed her. He indeed looked very handsome. And without noticing she silently crushed ion the male, like she did with all of them. And the best thing of all was; he greeted her back, and introduced himself, even. And after that he asked for her name. And then came the question if she was alone or with a pack. A worried expression appeared on his face as he asked her this. So many words all a once. Rhian stopped for a moment to think about what to answer as she stood there and looked at him. She gave him a weak smile, a bit ashamed.
''Nice to meet you, Rhydian. I'm Rhian.'' she said to begin with, ordering her own thoughts after she had listened to him speak, and sought for some answers to give him. ''I'm not in a pack. I entered this valley not long ago through a desert... I'm glad I'm out of there, there was nothing to eat not drink.''


And then to consider she had lost her first pups only a month ago. That thought still hurt her badly, to see her poor stillborn babies in her mind, cold and lifeless like that. She swallowed and looked at the ground for a bit, trying her best to hide her sadness, but she failed terribly.
She guessed Rhydian might be worried about the look on her eyes, so she thought it might be wise to explain things to him. Even though she did not want to. But he was the first wolf for her too meet since the last time Nahirden was still alive, and she had no idea why but she trusted him. Maybe a bit too much, but she did.
''Ah, sorry... It's just... My mate died a while ago, and a month ago I had a litter of puppies but they were all stillborn. I just remembered them...'' Rhian said to the male. It felt weird telling a stranger all of this.

‘’Nice to meet you, Rhydian. I'm Rhian. I'm not in a pack. I entered this valley not long ago through a desert... I'm glad I'm out of there, there was nothing to eat not drink.’’ Rhian said, knocking Rhydian’s memories back to when he first entered this place. He’d not been here that long but he had explored most areas, steering clear of what looked to be a pack a few times. He hoped they weren’t onto him, that’s the main reason why he asked. He hoped that they weren’t after him and sent her after him. Especially such a beautiful female at that.
‘’I too entered here through a desert. I’m glad you came out fine, well you look to be fine anyway.’’ He said, smiling at her again. However, as he looked down at her he noticed she looked sad, really sad and she swallowed. Rhydian wanted to comfort her and he would, he was too kind to just leave her like that.

‘’Rhian are you okay?’’ He asked, stepping forward a little, trying to suggest he was there for mutual support. As he stepped forward he noticed she certainly was beautiful but he tried to shake it off, they’d just met.
‘’Ah, sorry... It's just... My mate died a while ago, and a month ago I had a litter of puppies but they were all stillborn. I just remembered them...’’ She said, making him stop dead in his thoughts. Her poor life must have been horrible, she must have felt so bad. Rhydian looked at her, concern in his eyes as he did so. He took a step forward again, now right next to her and gently rubbed the back of her head with his, kind of like a wolf hug. Then he pulled backwards and stepped backwards too, hoping he hadn’t overstepped the mark.
‘’I’m sorry… I just wanted to make you feel safe and know that I’m here for you…’’ He muttered, looking down at the ground now, head angled slightly backwards. His face heated up and he swallowed, hoping she wasn’t angry at him or afraid now; he didn’t want that, he wanted her to feel safe around him. He wanted everyone to feel safe around him.

Rhian looked sad, and Rhydian must have noticed it. The male looked at her with worry and walked over to her, resting his head on the back of hers as in a way to comfort her. Rhian did nothing, she just stood there in silence and accepted it. It felt kind of nice, having a male hug her like this, care for her like this. She had dealt with so many bad males in her life; Rhydian was a nice difference for once. He reminded her of Nahirden... Oh, how much Rhian missed her late mate. She wasn't sure if she ever would find one like him again.
Rhydian pulled away from her and took a few steps back, and he apologized for his actions just now. Rhian gave him a smile and a short wag of her tail. She really didn't mind him doing that; it felt nice and warm. She kind if trusted Rhydian already, even though they had only just met. Was that wrong?


''It's fine, I don't mind.'' she answered, and she looked at the ground for a bit to get her footing right and placing her hind on the snowy ground. It was still really cold, but at least there was less snow now. She looked back up at the male after that, that smile once again on her face. ''Thank you, I needed that...''
After a moment of silence, she guessed she needed to keep this conversation going; Rhydian seemed nice, and she wondered if he would like to travel with her, if they could become friends. Because he really reminded her of Nahirden, and she felt safe with him for some odd reason. ''Sooo, how long have you been in this valley? You're planning on going anywhere?''

‘’It's fine, I don't mind.’’ Rhian said, looking down and slowly lowering herself into a sitting position. Rhydian looked up, not feeling so embarrassed now. Eventually she did too, looking back up at him with a warm smile. He smiled back, dipping his head slightly at her.
‘’Thank you, I needed that...’’ She then said, making Rhydian look at her with a puzzled gaze. She actually did? She didn’t mind? That made him happy. He suddenly smiled again and wagged his tail, looking very happy right now, not really happy with himself but happy with her reaction.
‘’I’m glad… I just thought that with-’’ Rhydian stopped himself before he could say anything stupid, he didn’t want to ruin their trust. ‘’No, never mind. I don’t want to make you feel upset.’’
‘’Sooo, how long have you been in this valley? You're planning on going anywhere?’’ Rhian asked him, filling in after a short moment of silence. He didn’t know how to answer that, actually. For a moment his eyes wandered around the beautiful area they were at right now, it must look beautiful in the summer.
‘’I’ve not been here too long. Maybe a week or two, I’ve had a couple encounters with the pack here but I just hide from them. I don’t plan on going anywhere, no. Do you?’’ He asked her, looking down again. There was so much more he wanted to say but he couldn’t, he had to hold back because it would be disrespectful if he didn’t. Rhydian wasn’t about to ruin a friendship for no reason, he didn’t want that.

‘’Rhian…’’ He stuttered, looking up at her again now. ‘’Do you want to travel with me? I mean it’s okay if not but I was just wondering… I…’’
For some reason he couldn’t find words. He rarely did that, usually he could talk but not now, not to her. He didn’t know how to talk to her, he didn’t know what to say. He then lowered himself to the ground slowly, sitting there in front of her, looking right at her. He shuffled himself a little closer, mainly because he was uncomfortable in his position but then he just looked at her for a few seconds.
‘’Rhian… You’re beautiful…’’ He muttered, not realising it. Then he jumped back a little once he realised what he had just said. He backed away from her, not with a scared face but an apologetic one, he didn’t mean to; not now, not while she’d lost someone she loved. He couldn’t do that, it was rude and disrespectful.
‘’I’m so sorry Rhian, it was uncalled for. I shouldn’t have said anything, not now. I didn’t mean to, I swear. I promise I didn’t mean to at all I… I just…’’ He said, panicking slightly. Actually it wasn’t just slightly, he was panicking quite a lot. Rhydian managed to calm himself, he stood there, looking at the ground and breathing deeply for a moment. Finally he looked back up at her, refusing to make eye contact right now, though. He couldn’t bear to, probably just looking at him now made her sick to the core; that’s what he thought anyway. He’d messed things up, hadn’t he? Now he had to make things right, but how? What did he need to do? So many questions but no answers, not a single one and Rhydian couldn’t make sense of it in his head any more. He sat on the ground again, really uncomfortable but he just stayed there, not daring to move. Finally he looked back up at her, making eye contact again.
‘’If you’ll still accept my offer of travelling together it remains open for you to take. I would understand if you didn’t want to… especially after that.’’ He said to her, he was truly sorry. He couldn’t even imagine the pain he might have caused her. What if he’d brought back any kinds of memories, anything, just anything? He hoped he hadn’t, he hoped he didn’t cause her any pain.

Notes: Rhydian is being moderately cute? It's so Rhydian, though.

Rhydian explained he had not been here for long, at least a week or two, and he said there was a pack in this valley he had almost run into a few times, but he had managed to hide from them. Rhian nodded her head, to show she was listening and understood everything. When he asked her if she had planned on moving on and going anywhere else, she instead nodded her head. She liked talking to this male, but she could not stay around for long. There was still so much she wanted to see in this valley.
''I've planned to set out a new path for myself to walk; instead of grieving too much I want to enjoy life and explore the whole valley and meet new wolves.'' she began with a smile on her face, her tail wagging slightly. ''I want to see everything here before I decide to settle down somewhere and catch up with friends or maybe find a new family.''


Suddenly Rhydian asked if she wanted to travel with him. She gave him a confused look for a moment, but she smiled again soon after, nodding her head. ''Sure, why not.'' she said and she grinned afterwards. ''Though, can you keep up with my fast traveling pace?''
She noticed Rhydian was acting a bit strange, and as he sat down and looked at her he moved a bit closer to her. Even though Rhian was naive, this alarmed her. However, she stayed put, feeling slightly uncomfortable now. What was he doing?
He then said she was beautiful, and Rhian stared at him with big eyes; she had no idea what she should say, and what she should do. Rhydian noticed what he had said and he scuffled backwards again, away from her. Rhian opened her mouth so speak, but no words came out, and instead Rhydian was the one speaking again. He apologized, but Rhian shook her head. He didn't need to apologize, why? Those words just slipped from his mouth, but that was all.


The male looked really uncomfortable and Rhian felt like comforting him, but she wasn't sure if he would want that. And she kind of felt uncertain herself, so she kept her distance from him. Rhian just sat there, staring at him as he seemed to grow only more and more unsure. Maybe she should say something? Rhian had no clue what to say to him.
And then he went back to the offer to travel together, mentioning that if she still wanted, she could. Rhian just looked at him and blinked her eyes, remembering Nahirden. He had been just as sweet. A sting was felt in her heart, but she refused to react to it. Instead she gave Rhydian a weak but honest smile, even though it looked rather sheepish and unsure.
''Sure, we can still travel together, if you want. I don't mind. I travel fast, though. And sometimes I stick in one place for longer...'' she said, she wanted him to know this. In case Rhydian had a different way to travel. She didn't want to get in his way if he wanted to go somewhere else compared to her. ''It's okay though, don't be sorry. I don't mind.''
No, in fact she actually really liked this kind of attention, but she wouldn't say that to him, because that would be very weird. Right?

He just didn’t plan to go anywhere, he would and he was going to leave the waterfall in a bit, before the sun went down, but he didn’t know where to, that’s what he meant. He guessed the female thought that meant he wasn’t going to leave. She mentioned a possible family and inside Rhydian smiled, but on the outside he didn’t, he just stood there looking at her with a friendly smile.
‘’Well I would like to explore as well before deciding on somewhere and I do hope I can one day start a family, so we’re not all that different, right?’’ He replied with a cheesy grin. He wasn’t being rude to her or anything, or suggestive in any way. Actually he was just trying to make conversation, but he instead gave her a rather sheepish grin for no reason.

‘’Sure, why not. Though, can you keep up with my fast traveling pace?’’ She said with a slight grin. Rhydian grinned back, chuckling slightly as well.
‘’Why do you say that, do you think I am a slow traveller?’’ He said with a smirk and playful grin. ‘’Yes, I will be able to keep up, it would be a pleasure to travel with you, Rhian.’’

Rhian looked rather surprised at him after his foolish act, she shook her head at his apologies but not in a rude fashion. No, to him it looked more like she was telling him to stop apologising. Why did she want him to stop? He’d done wrong, hadn’t he? That’s what he thought anyway, that he’d done wrong, maybe he hadn’t, but in his mind he had.
‘’Sure, we can still travel together, if you want. I don't mind. I travel fast, though. And sometimes I stick in one place for longer...’’ Rhian replied to him with a genuine smile, one that looked like she was being truthful, but it did look unsure, too. That’s not what he wanted really, for her to be unsure, but then again he had just done something stupid and ridiculous, he should never have said that, especially right after he’d found out she’d lost her pups and mate. Yes, she might have been beautiful, but that was uncalled for, he shouldn’t have said that. Now she knew, though, and there was nothing he could do about that fact other than accept it, he couldn’t change the past.
‘’It's okay though, don't be sorry. I don't mind.’’ Rhian said, but still he was sorry. Even if she didn’t mind it wasn’t right, was it. Although he couldn’t deny what he felt now, she knew. Rhydian looked down again but then back up at her, smiling and blushing all the while. Maybe they should move on now, to another place? Like she said they wanted to explore multiple places, right?
‘’Okay, as long as you’re okay… Anyway, shouldn’t we be going soon? You said you wanted to explore and I am down for leaving whenever you’re ready. You’re the boss.’’ He replied, smiling. There was so much more he wanted to say but he couldn’t, maybe later, maybe once they were somewhere else he’d stop her and speak with her. He wanted her to know he wasn’t lying about what he said, he really did think she was beautiful, but he couldn’t say it to her, not now. He wanted to explain, just say everything, but he couldn’t. He still felt guilty and guessed they should leave, maybe let things cool down a little before he spoke to her again.

Rhydian said that he too wanted to explore the valley and that he too had desires of settling down somewhere after seeing everything and having a new family. They indeed were very much alike. Rhian smiled at him innocently, nodding her head. Then he asked her why she had asked him if he could keep up with her traveling, and she grinned at him.
''It was just a joke, hun.'' she said in response and she giggled. Her smile returned back to normal once he said he would love to travel with her. Good, that was settled then; they were going to travel together. But now came the question, where should they go first? Or, they they could just always go anywhere they decided to walk to.


Rhydian then asked if she was ready to leave, and said that she was the 'boss'. Rhian giggled at that and got to her paws. ''What about now, then?'' she asked him and she looked at the waterfall for a moment. ''Though, hold on for a bit.'' she mentioned after that and she walked over to the waterfall.
Rhian was afraid of water, but whenever someone was thirsty they had to drink, no? And sadly all wolves drank was water. Shuddering slightly she bend forward once standing near the waterfall and the river, and drinking from it. She made sure to make it quick; she didn't want to stay near water much longer but she also didn't want to keep Rhydian waiting.
After she was done she turned around and ran back to Rhydian, a smile on her face; she hid the fact that she was afraid of water, for she didn't really want him to know. It was weird to be afraid of water while you were a wolf, right?
''Okay, I'm ready! If you want to drink too before we leave, go ahead~ I will wait for you.'' she said to him and she stood there wagging her tail.

‘’It was just a joke, hun.’’ Rhian giggled, but soon her smile changed back to a normal one as Rhydian told her that they were travelling together; it was obviously settled then from both parties.

‘’What about now, then? Though, hold on for a bit.’’ Rhian said to him as she looked towards the waterfall. He watched as she walked over to the river, she was heading for a drink. Rhydian smiled and waited patiently, she was very quick actually. As soon as she was done she came running back to him with a smile on her face. She then spoke to him, wagging her tail with a beaming smile on her face. ‘’Okay, I'm ready! If you want to drink too before we leave, go ahead~ I will wait for you.’’
‘’No, it’s okay. I had a drink before you arrived.’’ He replied whilst she wagged her tail. He joined in and wagged her tail as well, smiling back at her. The wolf turned around, looking back in the direction he’d entered this area, hoping to walk to somewhere else. He looked over at her and smiled before looking forward and waiting for her to depart, following closely behind her.
